“Star Kids,” is a program devoted to underprivileged, terminally ill and disabled kids. These children have the opportunity to become a star, a king or queen for the day, and experience how it feels to be a person in the spotlight, making their dream come true! Children’s Miracle Network is the national affiliate of this program because they are one of the leading organizations that deal with these needs. Volunteers such as myself sell “star bears”, which allows one to register a real star in the sky. The proceeds raised from the sale of these bears, allow a volunteer to give a bear to the child, and the remainder of the proceeds is given to Children’s Miracle Network.
Our mission is to provide guidance and support to these children, as well as create an environment where they are safe. They are also given their dream come true, which will help the children and their families to be happy, and know that they have an everlasting keepsake, a star in the sky!
Our goal is to increase the chances of success with children, and to allow these children to be a part of an organization that cares about their well-being. We hope that this program may help to create happiness within these child’s hearts, comfort that they are loved, and give them the strength to succeed. By using the facilities provided by certain organizations such as hospices, hospitals, etc., we hope that children may be able to enjoy their life, love themselves, and find peace in their hearts to know that they to can succeed.
Star Kids will work because it is a program that is dedicated to the success and well being of our children. It will also attract these children because this is a fun, exciting program that caters to their needs and wants. There are many organizations that have similar programs, but this one is unique because we will focus on each child individually, and have mentors and volunteers who will become their best friends. Some children may not have parents in their lives due to work or for other reasons; they may have feelings of insecurity, and may not have friends at all. This program will give them the guidance and motivation to never give up, to always be the best that they can be, and to know that they always have someone that cares for them and loves them.
There are many people and organizations that are needed for this program. We need many other volunteers, mainly from the Miss America Organization, titleholders that can assist with showing them how to be a queen/king. We also need the facilities such as the hospices, hospitals, etc. to be cooperative and allow us to go in and create miracles for the children. Sponsors that can donate or buy the bears are also needed.
